What is Sound of impact? Sound of impact literally. The noise when two forces come into collision. But as a phrase it can be found at the end of cockpit voice recorder transcripts
Of the events when all goes wrong and the final result comes to pass.
But it is also a metaphor, a phrase that can be used to underscore all types of incidents when, for whatever reason, they come into contact and cause an irreversible change.
It can be a sound, anything from a twig breaking in a forest to the discharge of a gun. It can be rhythm and the pounding of machinery. But it can also be events that stretch over millennia, evolution and cataclysm. Epochs rising and falling, extinction, the inevitable rise and fall of cultures and empires,
Sound of impact also reflects our modern age and the race of development and experimentation. New inventions creating new disasters, the intrusion of new mediums of communications and culture on Old Norm. Language and politics, religions and science
Sound of impact becomes the description of the presence of existence. The rhythms of change and conflict, the sweeping away of old ideas and forms, energy release.
But ultimately sound of impact is change. One form changing to another, the strike of a hand on a drum transposed into the form of sound. A sophisticated engineering marvel disintegrating into the randomness of chaos. The systems of one world destroyed to create another. The crawling advance of cities overrunning the earth, consuming as they go. It is the machinery of war, hyper powers and cultural resistance, faster and faster mediums of communication. All the forms produce the same results. A transference and change, wreckage and loss and the spoils to the victors. A mutation that carries on until the cycles begin again and the next collision looms.
